ICGN In-house Training

Alongside the ‘public’ courses, ICGN provides a service delivering courses to clients ‘in-house’.  In-house training involves delivery of a course to a group consisting of your own employees and nominees only.  In-house courses can be delivered ‘in person’ at your preferred premises or ‘online’– or a mixture, according to preference.

This ‘in-house’ training option allows you to ensure a course suits your own governance and stewardship objectives.  The course can ensure time is allocated to translating current debates, thinking and practices into your organisation’s particular context.  The benefits of such training are many:

  • A course, its content and even its timing can be tailored to suit your organisation’s situation and objectives.  We ask clients to play an important role in ensuring content is matched to the requirement.
  • Trainer(s) can be chosen to match the nature of your organisation’s business and its culture.
  • A whole team being trained at once leads to debate within the team about how the training should be used to influence policy and practice.  A common vocabulary is understood across the team.

Working with clients on In-house courses – A Quality Assured Process

When working with you an in-house course, ICGN follow a process to ensure we are achieving your objectives.

  • 1. Taking a Brief – the Consultation call

This is usually a call between our team, including one of our expert trainers, and yours to understand your business and learning objectives – in short:

    • What organisational ‘drivers’ led to you requesting this course?
    • What do you want to happen as a result of this course?
    • What issues need addressing?
  • 2. Proposal prepared

We then prepare a proposal for your review, including:

    • Confirmation of our understanding of your requirement and objectives
    • A detailed agenda, indicating content to be covered, and suggestions as to what mixture of methods we recommend for delivery – e.g. presentation, case study, debate, Q&A
    • Format – in person, online or both
    • Recommendations of trainers and speakers, including their biographies
    • Commercial arrangements including fees
  • 3. Course Design and ‘Sign off’

The nominated trainer then designs a course - a schedule, slides, case studies, activities etc.  We recommend a ‘check in’ with you every two/three weeks to review progress and validate content.  Eventually we ask you to ‘sign off’ the materials prior to delivery.

  • 4. Course Delivery

We will send information out to your employees a week or so before a course – including agenda, pre course questionnaires and activities etc.

If a course involves multiple sessions, we recommend ‘check ins’ with you between sessions to review progress.

  • 5. Evaluation

At the end of a course, we will seek the views of learners, usually through a link to an online form.  We then produce a report for your review against your original objectives, learners’ comments and recommending any ‘next steps’.

What Our Clients Say

ICGN delivered in-house training for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an international organisation shaping policies and establising international standards in response to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges.

Feedback from OECD:

ICGN already had a course largely fit for our needs, but the ‘in-company’ version allowed for considerably more time for discussions, which was important for our needs.

As a result of the in-house training, we advanced in our understanding of how asset managers integrate corporate sustainability information into their investment-making process.
